The Shelby County 14-year-old Babe Ruth all-star baseball team had two big game-winning rallies, however, the squad also lost a pair of games, including one nail-biter, to be knocked out of the double-elimination 2013 East Kentucky State Tournament.
Shelby won its opening game at Veterans Park in Lexington, rallying for an 8-6 triumph over Russell County on Thursday before being edged, 5-4 by South Lexington on Friday. It bounced back to beat Paris, 9-6, Saturday morning before being eliminated, 18-0 by Russell County on Saturday night.
