Police are looking for a Shelby County man who has been been indicted on two counts of first-degree rape of minors.
Christopher Broughton of Fisherville Road was charged by a Shelby County Grand Jury with “engaging in sexual intercourse through the use of forcible compulsion” involving two different victims. He also is charged with one count of first-degree sexual abuse.
Broughton was charged through a direct indictment, and a warrant issued for his arrest, but thus far he has eluded police.
“A warrant has been issued, but we do not feel like he is in this area,” Shelby County Sheriff's Detective Jason Rice said.
The first rape is alleged to have taken place on Dec. 22, 2007, and the second was on Feb. 17, 2008, according to the indictment.
Rice said that both alleged rape victims were under the age of 16 at the time of the offense.
Broughton was charged with first-degree sexual abuse involving the alleged rape in 2008 because he is charged with subjecting the person to “sexual contact through the use of forcible compulsion.”
First-degree rape is a Class B felony, punishable by a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison.
