Preteen fair contest is Saturday, June 16

The Miss Shelby County Preteen Contest is at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby County Fairgrounds.

Contestants must be 8 years old by July 1 and not have reached their 13th birthdays by Oct. 31. Five finalists will be chosen, from which a winner and first runner-up will be chosen from the standpoint of beauty, poise and personality.

The winner will receive $100 cash from the Shelby County A&M Association, along with a plaque from the Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. The winner will participate in several activities, including the Miss Pre-Teen Kentucky Fair Pageant.

 

The participants are:

Sarah Dutton is the daughter of Gilmore and Donna Dutton. She enjoys ice skating, horseback riding, cheerleading, dancing, playing with dolls, playing with her animals, playing dress up and shopping.

Hannah Harrod is the daughter of Cheri Bentley and Charles Harrod. She enjoys jazz dancing, art, boating, swimming with her family, being a part of Shelby Christian’s youth group, taking care of her pets, being a DARE graduate and being a Presidential Silver Award winner at Heritage for having an “A” average.

Elizabeth Renee Ivers is the daughter of Jeff and Georgina Ivers. She enjoys playing fast-pitch softball, swimming, volleyball, helping with Autistic children, dancing and hanging out with friends and family.

Carey-Jo La’Ren Jordan is the daughter of Albert and Debra C. Jordan. She enjoys performing in plays at church and at school, dance lessons, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and technique. She enjoys playing piano and clarinet and studying modeling with Cosmos.  

Calista Ann Price is the daughter of Carissa and Ryan Bushur and Terry and Ashley Price. She enjoys singing in the choir at school, swimming, riding 4-wheelers, taking goofy pictures of herself with her sister and just hanging out with her friends.

Davis Sydney Skinner is the daughter of Jennifer and David Stenger and Sam and Stephanie Skinner. She enjoys swimming, dancing, singing, playing basketball, dressing up with her girlfriends, creating artistic drawings, being a member of Girl Scouts and helping her family cook.

Baylee Stenger is the daughter of James and Sara Stenger. She enjoys cheering for Gym Tyme All-Stars, tumbling, swimming, riding her bike and playing outside with her sister.

Abigail Lynn Varney is the daughter of Joy and Terry Varney. She enjoys being the second-grade class president of Painted Stone Elementary, soccer, singing, dancing, playing with animals, practicing for pageants, learning new things, reading, having sleep-overs with her friends and learning the Japanese language and culture.

Hannah Grace Varney is the daughter of Joy and Terry Varney. She enjoys being a peer mediator, being the Mayor of the 3rd grade class of Painted Stone Elementary, chorus, cooking, fishing, swimming, and tutoring other students.
