Shelby County escapes Spencer, 52-39

Tim Sanford had struggled from the field all night. But with 3:09 remaining, Sanford's first three-pointer fell after bouncing around the rim.

The shot gave the Rockets a 38-35 lead that they wouldn't relinquish in a 52-39 win over host Spencer County in the first round of the 30th District Tournament Thursday. The win put the Rockets in the championship game Saturday against Anderson County and assured them a spot in the 8th Region Tournament.
