Fine art, wine and pleasant conversation were all part of an event held Friday at Shelby Artists on Main in celebration of its seventh anniversary.
Included in the festivities were a wine tasting, featuring a selection of Talon wines generously donated by an anonymous benefactor, as well as new works of art by the co-op’s members - Stephanie Allison, John Clayton, Don Cull, Rose Flowers, Sharla McClain, Linda Powell, Mary Yaeger and the group’s newest member, Chad Waits. Shelby Artists on Main is currently pursuing its non-profit status, which would enable it to continue to serve Shelbyville and the county by providing a place for artists, students and art lovers to gather, as well as host future community events, including artist workshops. Achieving a non-profit status also would benefit Shelby Artists on Main’s donors and benefactors by making their donations tax deductible. Shelby Artists on Main continues to maintain its position as part of the Main Street scene despite the economic downturn. Shelby Artists on Main is located at 617 Main Street and is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, or by appointment. For more information call 502-633-7273.
