Scott County sweeps Shelby out of district

Scott beats Shelby 10-3 and 9-0

The Shelby County 12-year-old Cal Ripken all-star baseball team was swept by Scott County in a pair of games in the District 2 Tournament on Tuesday night.
Scott won the first, 10-3, before blanking Shelby 9-0 in the second game at Suffoletta Park in Georgetown.

Scott County 10, Shelby County 3

Scott, the visiting team, scored two runs in the first, five in the second and three in the third on its way to a five-inning victory. The game was ended by rain with two outs and one Scott runner on base in the top of the fifth inning.
Shelby scored all of its runs in the bottom of the third. Anthony Anderson had the team’s lone hit while he, John Marcum and Brandon Ethington plated for Shelby County.

Scott County 9, Shelby County 0

A pair of Scott pitchers held Shelby to one hit for the second consecutive game while it plated four runs in the bottom of the third and five in the fifth.
Marcellus Vail’s double to lead off the fourth frame was Shelby County’s only hit.
