District

Monday through Friday – No school, spring break

April 8-May 17 – Spring MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing window. Parents asked to avoid out-of-school appointments for children.

April 10 – Peace for Parents Workshop about teen substance use and abuse and current drug trends 6-7 p.m. in the West Middle School Library. Open to parents, teachers, counselors and other concerned individuals. To register for this free seminar, call Lisa Prewitt at 502-214-0522.

April 11 – School board meets at 7 p.m. at Education Center at Cropper.

April 13 – Touched Twice assistance clinic for community (free clothes closet, food pantry) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, 1516 Midland Trail.

April 13 – Health and Fitness Fun Day is 9 a.m. to noon at Clear Creek Park with an extension service community program. Elementary school with highest attendance wins $500 for physical education equipment.

April 16 – Teacher of the Year banquet

April 19 – Young Leaders Institute final day, tourism and graduation

April 23 – Kindergarten registration and screening is 5:30 to 7:30 pm at each elementary school. The free screening will be given to the child while the parent completes the registration forms. Bring birth certificate, Social Security card, and two proofs of residency.

April 25 – School Board 7 p.m., Central Office

April 26 – Rocket Games for children identified with disabilities hosted by Shelby County High School.

April 29 – Appointments begin for free preschool screenings for any 3- or 4-year-old child living in Shelby County. Call 647-0210. Screenings will be May 15-16 at the Preschool Center at Painted Stone Elementary at 150 Warriors Way.

Clear Creek

April 13 – ACT exam administered is 8 a.m.

April 16 – BETA Inductions in the theater

April 23 – A new member induction ceremony for National Honor Society is 6 p.m. in the SCHS library. 

April 26– Are You Smarter than a Eighth Grader? Family Trivia Night is from 6 to 9 p.m. at the high school.Prizes. The event is free, and a pizza dinner will be provided.
