The Shelby County School Board approved on Thursday new tax rates for the year 2009-2010 following a brief public hearing in which one citizen voiced his concerns on the proposed increase.
As a 1982 SCHS graduate and longtime Shelby County resident, Terry Johnson told the board that the county’s school taxes are already among the highest in state – as much as a quarter more than many surrounding counties.
