Santa needs letters, artwork

-A A +A

The Sentinel-Newsagain this year invites children to write letters to Santa Claus or submit a drawing about Christmas to be judged for a prize, with as many entries as possible being published in a special section on Christmas Eve.

The letters, by children ages 6 to 9, can be about a child’s Christmas wishes and also about what the holiday means to him or her.

And so the Jolly Old Elf can try out all the new magnets he has for his refrigerator, younger children, those ages 3 to 5, are asked to draw a picture of Santa or some other aspect of the their holiday dreams.

Because a lot of adults have to help the kids, there are some guidelines:

  • All letters should be submitted electronically, but they should be typed with errors as the children wrote them.
  • The artwork should be done in black or color crayon or marker and not in pencil. They should be scanned and submitted electronically, too.
  • Please be sure to include each child’s name, age and/or school.

All letters and drawings will be judged, and for creativity and child-like imagination, and each first-place winner will receive $5 cash.
