Rockets trying to create respect

The motto for this season’s Shelby County boys’ basketball team is “respect the program.”

New coach Jason Couch wants his players to appreciate the Rockets’ storied history, which includes a pair of state championships, first and foremost.

“We tell them, ‘Before anybody else can respect the program, you as players have to respect the program every day,’” said Couch, who has taken over for Rick Parsons, who resigned after two seasons.
