Solid 3-point shooting saved Shelby County on an inconsistent defensive night, as the Rockets won 58-47 at Henry County Tuesday night.
The Rockets hit seven threes, including three from Boomer Beckley, in the first half to lead 35-24 at halftime. But the third quarter saw the Wildcats out-score Shelby 13-5 and trim the lead to 40-37.
Cache Tomlinson gave his team some much-needed breathing room early in the fourth with two threes. A couple steals helped stop the Wildcats, who found it all to easy to pull the Rocket defense out of the lane for an easy bucket.
Donovan Johnson put the game away with some inside baskets, and his three-point play with about a minute to go stretched the Rocket lead to 11 points.
Beckley and Tomlinson led the Rockets with 14 points each. Henry County's Jacori Baldwin scored a game-high 17 points.
