Rockets hold off Panthers

The Shelby County girls’ basketball team outscored host Carroll County 13-6 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 47-37 8th Region victory Saturday afternoon in Carrollton.

Junior point guard Katie Hudgens and sophomore forward Justus Martin tallied 12 points apiece to pace the Rockets (5-1), who led the Panthers (2-5) 11-5 at the end of the first quarter, 30-19 at halftime and 34-31 at the end of the third period.

Junior forward Savannah Raizor added seven points for Shelby County, which bounced back from a road loss to top-ranked Anderson County.
