The SCHS football team put on a defensive clinic in second half, but the offense couldn't capitalize as the Rockets (0-6, 0-2) fell 14-7 to George Rogers Clark Friday.
GRC's Ryan Williams scored on runs of 68 and 52 yards in the first half, but the Cardinals (5-2, 1-1) could only manage 34 total yards rushing in the second half as the defense adjusted and shut down GRC's offense.
Shelby County's Tyler Phillips threw his first touchdown of the year, a 19-yarder to Tavis Elzy in the first quarter, tying the score at 7.
But the Rocket offense again couldn't capitalize off of turnovers created by the defense. Elzy had an interception early in the game, and the defense caused a fumble in the fourth quarter, but Shelby came up empty on both possessions.
