After rain shortened their match against Anderson County on Monday, the Shelby County Rockets invited the Bearcats back to Weissinger Hills Friday to complete the match.
Shelby County was in the lead when the rain hit Monday and didn’t let up on the return to the course, holding on for a 158-161 victory. Josh Griffin was the medalist, leading the way with a 38. The Rockets were grouped right behind Griffin, with Josh Kuhn next at 39, Jared Redmon at 40 and Tayler Adams at 41.
Shelby County is now 2-0 and on top of the CKC Western Conference.
SCHS 160, Western Hills 174
The team fared well in its first full match of the season, beating Western Hills, 160-174, Aug. 11 at Juniper Hills in Frankfort. The boys had been rained out in their first match and tournament the previous week.
Jared Redmon was the medalist for Shelby County with a nine-hole 38 and was followed by Josh Griffin’s 40. Turner Mayton and Tayler Adams both fired a 41s to round out the Rockets’ score.
