Crime stoppers seeks info on graffiti crime

By Lisa King

The Shelbyville/Shelby County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in locating the person who defaced a local business with spray paint.

On Tuesday, between 4 and 4:30 p.m., someone spray painted the numbers “812” on the rear of the restaurant LaCascada, located in the 100 block of Midland Boulevard, in the Midland Plaza shopping center.

A truck belonging to the restaurant’s owner also was targeted. The words “I was here” were painted on the truck.

The damage is estimated to be about $200.

The suspect in the incident is described as a white male in his teens with strawberry blond hair and “812” tattooed on his arm.

Shelbyville Police Resource Officer Istvan Kovacs, who is also crime stopper coordinator, said the area has had problems of a similar nature for quite some time.

“This shopping center has been a regular target of graffiti,” he said.

“Several months ago, Shelby Prevention and volunteers painted the

building in an attempt to clean up the area and prevent graffiti.”

Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 633-4500 or by visiting www.shelbyclue.com.

Crime Stoppers pays rewards up to $1,000.
