Goal is to promote spread of information about agriculture

By Lisa King

Agriculture leaders in Shelby say they are excited about a 2-part leadership training program beginning Thursday and culminating next week at the Shelby County Cooperative Extension Office.

Corrine Belton, agriculture extension agent for Shelby County, said that so far, about 20 people have signed up for the program, which will be held Thursday and Feb. 20 at the extension office on Frankfort Road.

She said the goal is to familiarize farmers with public speaking to the point that they feel comfortable talking about agriculture.
