Here are a couple of quick previews on tonight's high school girls' basketball games involving county teams.
SHELBY COUNTY AT ANDERSON COUNTY, 7:30 p.m.
This game was originally scheduled for this past Friday before being postponed due to the winter weather.
Shelby County (13-11, 3-2 in the district) can clinch the No. 2 seed in the district tournament with a victory tonight over the No. 2 team in the state. It really doesn't matter, though, because the Rockets' opponent in the district tourney is already determined. They will play Collins in the semifinals regardless of what happens in their district finale tonight.
Sophomore forward Mackenzie Raizor leads Shelby County in scoring (12.4 points per game) and rebounding 7 per game). Freshman forward Justus Martin is second on the squad in both categories, averaging 9.9 ppg and 6.1 rpg.
Anderson County (22-1, 5-0), which has already clinched the No. 1 seed in the district tournament (the Bearcats will play Spencer County in the semifinals), carries a 14-game winning streak into tonight's game against the Rockets. The Bearcats are led by juniors Mackenzie Cann and Eriel McKee.
COLLINS AT FRANKLIN COUNTY, 7:30 p.m.
The Titans (11-11) have a tough game tonight against the Flyers (19-6), one of the top teams in the 11th Region.
Senior forward Aaliyah Wells leads Collins in scoring (18.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg).
Freshman guard Dasia Kilbourne leads a balanced Franklin County attack - five players average more than 7 points per game - by averaging 10.6 points per game.
