It took a couple of days, but the Shelbyville American Legion Post 37 baseball team finally earned a trip to the state tournament.
Shelbyville outlasted and outslugged Oldham County, 16-10, in a game that began Thursday night and ended Friday night at Clear Creek Park.
The victory clinched the district tournament runner-up spot for Post 37 (15-11) – Ashland earned the district title by virtue of its victories over Oldham and Shelbyville – and gave Shelbyville a berth in the state tournament in Paducah. Post 37 opens play against Danville at 10 a.m. CDT today.
