Two people robbed at gun point in separate holdups

Police are looking for a lone gunman who robbed two people in in two separate holdups on Friday, Nov. 21, according to Shelbyville Police Officer Istvan Kovacs.

The man is described as a black male, 6 feet tall and weighing between 190-200 pounds. He was wearing a pull-over sweat shirt, blue jeans and a bandana over his face.

According to police, he approached a young man sitting in his car in the parking lot of Long John Silvers at about 9:30 p.m. and pointed a black handgun in his face. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellular phone from the victim's coat pocket before fleeing west along Midland Trail.

The robber then came upon another young man in the parking lot of Goodyear at 20 Mack Walters Road, and pointed the gun at him, again demanding money. The victim surrendered his wallet, which contained cash and personal identification to the gunman, who fled on foot south on Mack Walters Road.

If anyone knows anything about either of the two crimes, they are asked to call the Shelbyville/Shelby County Crime Stoppers hotline at (502) 633-4500 or the police department at 633-2326. Anyone providing information that leads to an arrest in this crime or any crime may be eligible for a cash reward of as much as $1,000. The identities of those providing information to Crime Stoppers is kept anonymous and any cash reward is distributed through the use of a code number.
