Persimmon Ridge Golf Club, located just off Aiken Road in Shelby County, received the Golf Digest 2007-2008 Architecture Award for Kentucky in recognition of the course's design.

Lawren Just, president of Persimmon Ridge, said this was the first time the course received the award.

"Persimmon Ridge is consistently rated by Golf Digest as one of the state's top golf courses, but this is the first time we have been presented with the design award so we are thrilled," she said. "It is gratifying to be recognized by national experts."

The judges included the editors of Golf Digest magazine and a national panel of course raters.

The 18-hole championship course at Persimmon Ridge was planned by course designer Arthur Hills, who used the natural features of the land. Located on the club's grounds are a residential golf community and the Kentucky Golf House, which is the home of the Kentucky Golf Association, Kentucky Section PGA, Kentucky Golf Foundation, Kentucky Senior Golf Association, KGA-PGA, Inc. and the Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame.
