Pennyman, a thrift and consignment shop, formerly located at Washington and 8th streets, has moved to 702 Main Street.

The shop is in its third year of operation, and is owned by three sisters, Nancy Winters, Judith Nigh and Kristen Basham, and features home goods, furniture and home accessories.

Nigh encourages people to check out the shop’s Facebook page.

The shop got its name from the girls’ father, Benjamin Johnson, who nicknamed himself ‘pennyman’ when he was going to medical school, and used to draw sketches of a stick figure of a man for the kids and use pennies for the figure’s hands, or maybe use pennies as balloons, Nigh said.

“We offer good things at good prices,” she said.

Winters said that the shop offers consignment as well, which comprises about 35 percent of their business.

Consignment is a 50-50 split, with items kept for 65 days, with a 10 percent mark down each month she said.
