Although Republican Mitt Romney lost to incumbent Barack Obama in his bid for president, he carried Shelby County, and the mood following the election is somewhat subdued among residents.
“I’m a Democrat, but I don’t vote the straight ticket,” said Bobby Hudson, president of the Shelby County Industrial and Development Foundation. “I’m not really happy about it, but the thing is, we’ve got to live with it for four years, so we might as well make the best of it.”
Hudson did not elaborate on why he preferred Romney.
