Shelbyville Police say that no weapons were involved in a dispute Monday night at a Shelbyville plant.

Shelbyville Police officer Kelly Cable said that officers were called to Katayama after an argument began between an employee and a supervisor.

Katayama Vice President Mark Baker said he could not comment on the situation.

The dispute, Cable said, was verbal only, and afterwards, the employee left the plant and went into a wooded area nearby. A family member arrived who picked him up and took him home to Spencer County, Cable said.

The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m., Cable said.

He added that rumors of a gun or other weapon being involved were unfounded.

“I think this is a case of things getting blown out of proportion,” he said.
