Children’s program

Shelby County Community Theatre presents Summer Arts Enrichment Workshops for the summer. Preschool Dance, Rock Star Dance, Hip Hop and Scene Study for Teens are being offered for the week of July 13-17.  Deadline for registration is July 6.  Visit www.shelbytheatre.org for more information and registration forms or call 633-0222.

  Humane Society fundraiser

The Shelby County Humane Society on Saturday night will hold its third annual gala fundraiser to benefit the construction of the county's new No-Kill Animal Sanctuary.  “Casino Night 2009” is at 7:30-midnight at The Bingo Hall, 200 Buck Creek Road, in Simpsonville.  Tickets are $25 at the door.

  Simpsonville site-based meetings

Several special Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council meetings for Simpsonville Elementary School are scheduled in July. All will be held in the school's Library Media Center. A meeting to create interview questions/review criteria for the principal selection is at 9 a.m. on July 10. Reviewing applications for principal is at 1 p.m. on July 10 and at 9 a.m. on July 11.

                                   ‘Walk About' in Finchville

Group exercise will be the goal Tuesday evening, when you can participate in a “Walk About” at Finchville Park. The walk starts at 7:30, and if you join, you will receive a free "Get Moving Kentucky!" water bottle as long as the supply lasts.  Participants will also have the opportunity to receive a "Get Moving Kentucky!" T-shirt for summertime travels and fun. The Shelby County Extension Service sponsors this event that is open to all interested adults and youth.
