 Holiday closings

Some local offices and businesses have changed schedules because of the Independence Day, holiday.

The changed times are: U.S. Post offices: Closed Saturday. Shelby County Court House and Annex: Closed Friday. Shelbyville City Hall: Closed Friday. Simpsonville Town Hall: closed Friday.

Banks: Citizens Union, American Founders, Chase, U.S. and Republic banks, closed Saturday; State Farm Bank, closed Friday and Saturday.

Family Activity Center: Open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. Shelby County Library: Closed Friday and Saturday. Shelby County Animal Shelter: Closed Friday and Saturday. The Sentinel-News: Business offices closed Friday.     Reenactment meeting

The Painted Stone Settlers, Inc. monthly meeting is 7 p.m. on Thursday in Meeting Room A at the Shelby County Cooperative Extension office at 1117 Frankfort Road, Shelbyville.   Children's program

Shelby County Community Theatre presents Summer Arts Enrichment Workshops for the summer. Preschool Dance, Rock Star Dance, Hip Hop and Scene Study for Teens are being offered for the week of July 13-17.  Deadline for registration is Monday.   Simpsonville site-based meetings

Several special Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council meetings for Simpsonville Elementary School are scheduled in July. All will be held in the school's Library Media Center. A meeting to create interview questions/review criteria for the principal selection is at 9 a.m. on July 10. Reviewing applications for principal is at 1 p.m. on July 10 and at 9 a.m. on July 11.
