Address: 1025 Main St., Shelbyville.
Who we are: Stacey’s Simple Stuff is a country primitive home décor and gift store that is being opened by Stacey Pettibone in the old cabin on Main Street in Shelbyville. Formerly of Louisville, she is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force – as is her husband, Ken – and recently chose Shelbyville as her (hopefully) final residence. During her military career, she lived in different countries and states and studied textiles and décor. She is also Web designer and an Internet marketer. Stacey’s Simple Stuff was her dream that started a little more than 10 years ago. She started making rag rugs and kitchen and home textiles and designed a Web site to sell her wares. She also started purchasing products to sell online. While looking for a house in Shelbyville in 2007, she saw the old cabin on Main Street, which was the first permanent schoolhouse in Shelbyville, built in 1806. It took her until July 2011 to be able to acquire the cabin and get enough products to open a store.
What we do: Stacey’s Simple Stuff offers an array of primitive and country home décor. The store also has vintage replicas, Colonial, and Americana accessories. Seasonal offerings for each season will be on display for customers to purchase. Pettibone also will teach rug making, soap making in classes at the cabin. She also will provide wrapping and shipping services.
What we say: “I love the simple life, primitive look, old buildings, vintage styles, and history,” Stacey Pettibone said. “What better way to express it than to have a store and fill it with all I love? I want to provide the best customer service and products I can for our customers. We are even going to provide free coffee daily.”
Other stuff: Stacey’s Simple stuff will have its grand opening at 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. or later on March 17. There will be drawings for prizes during the day.
Hours: 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday and Saturday. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
