New Business Let’s Make Music

-A A +A

Address: Best Western Hotel, 115 Isaac Shelby Dr. Shelbyville

Who we are: Let’s Make Music was developed by Diane Voegtlin who will be leading the classes at the Shelbyville Best Western. She and her family recently have moved to Shelbyville after living in Switzerland for the past 15 years. She received her bachelor’s degree in classical piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music. She has performed both classical and popular music throughout the United States as well as in Japan, Sweden, Norway, Greece and Switzerland (where she met her husband, Christian). She performs solo piano concerts and accompanies singers and instrumentalists. Voegtlin recently released a piano CD, Schwartz and Snow, featuring compositions by the composers Julia Schwartz and Susannah Snow. The CD also features works by Alberto Ginastera, Johannes Brahms and Diane’s son, Ian Voegtlin, who is currently a student at Shelby West Middle School.

What we do:  Let’s Make Music is a class designed for children ages 2 to 4 years old, accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What we say: “We explore music and rhythm using playful techniques and games,” Voegtlin said. “In each class we will sing, clap, tap, march – and not just in English but in German and French, too! Let’s Make Music encourages every child to be musical. We explore music and rhythm using playful techniques and games.”
