 Name: Bob's Hay Barn

Owned by: Bob Sparrow Location 703 3rd St.,  Shelbyville Phone: 647-0008

What we do: Bob Sparrow has been in the feed business since 1955. At his new business, he sells hay and straw grown on his own farm in Shelby County. Bob's Hay Barn also has a full line of animal feeds, including feed for cattle, horses, sheep, goats, poultry, dogs, cats and exotics. The business also sells a full line of grooming and health care products. Bob's Hay Barn carries all-natural health care products by Glo-Marr, which are manufactured in Lawrenceburg. The company also has chicks and ducks available for Easter.

What we say: “Our biggest group of customers is the backyard horsemen, with one to five horses,” Sparrow said. “We offer feeds straight from the supplier so we can offer quality feeds at lower prices. We don't plan to get in the bulk feed business, and we don't plan to compete with those here who are in that business.”

Special event: Bob's Hay Barn will have a grand opening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be games for children and drawings for gift certificates. Dr. Ryan Wonderlich will be there to answer animal health questions.
