A two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck sent two people to the hospital with moderately severe injuries last Tuesday afternoon.
Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy Fred Rothenburger said the cycle was traveling eastbound on U.S. 60 about a quarter of a mile from the intersection of U.S. 60 and the bypass when the driver of the motorcycle ran into the back of a pickup truck traveling in front of him.
The driver of the pickup truck, Justin Barnes, 18, of Henry County, was not injured, but both people on the motorcycle were taken by ambulance to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Their identities were not immediately available, but Rothenburger said that although he wasn’t sure of the driver’s injuries, his female passenger had suffered a broken leg. Rothenburger said he did not believe their injuries were life threatening.
One lane of U.S. 60 was shut down at the scene of the accident between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
