Real estate agents and lenders in Shelby County are riding through the streets and rousing government officials about a change in a government-backed, low-interest loan program that no longer would be available to some Shelby Countians.
The issue is the USDA Rural Housing Program and a determination recently that Shelbyville and Shelby County no longer would qualify for the program because the 2010 census showed the county’s household income to have surpassed its threshold, a change that also affects Nelson and Bullitt counties.
