Local students earn auto skills award

Shelby County Area Technology Center students Brady Price, a Shelby County High School senior, and Connor Stivers, a senior from Collins High School, teamed up to competed in the state Ford AAA Student Auto Skills Competition at Kentucky Speedway, finishing third. In order to compete in the state finals, students had to qualify with written exams, and the top 10 scoring schools in the state were invited to the state championship. The two high scoring students from the 10 schools competed in a hands-on auto repair competition. The teams had 90 minutes to diagnose and repair issues with the car. The students have been offered several scholarship opportunities from technical colleges totaling $12,500 for each student.
