Local girl chosen as state finalist

Mackenzie Koskella, 10, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Kentucky pageant, which will be held May 9-11 at the Crowne Plaza in Louisville. The pageant is for girls from ages 7 through 9. She is the daughter of Christina Reese and her stepfather is Derrick Goodlett, both of Shelbyville.

Her activities include cheerleading, gymnastics and mud obstacle courses. She also enjoys riding her bike, playing school and hanging out with her family, and has earned a spot on the academic honor roll.

The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California.
