Eliminated in losers' bracket final

By Josh Cook

The Shelby County 13-year-old Babe Ruth all-star baseball team won its first two games of the East Kentucky State Tournament, but lost its next two to be knocked out of the tourney.

Shelby, which routed Garrard County in its state opener last Tuesday, beat host Somerset/Pulaski 5-4 at Ward Correll Sports Complex in Somerset in a game that started Friday night, but ended early Saturday morning. Russell County then shutout Shelby County 7-0 Sunday before South Lexington edged Shelby 6-4 Sunday night in the losers’ bracket final to eliminate it from the tourney.
