Legion team wins first tourney game

The Shelbyville American Legion Post 37 baseball team beat Danville, 10-4, Tuesday in the first round of the state tournament at Paducah.

“We played probably the best game we’ve played all year,” Shelbyville Coach Jim Wiley said.

Post 37 played Metcalfe County on Thursday afternoon in the winners’ bracket semifinal of the double-elimination tournament at Brooks Stadium. If Shelbyville won that game, it would play at 4:30 p.m. CDT today in the winners’bracket final. If Post 37 lost Thursday afternoon, it would play at 10 this morning.
