Lady Rockets open season with win

-A A +A

Girls top Carroll County 44-34

By Todd Martin

It wasn't pretty, but Shelby County's girls basketball team won its season opener Monday against Carroll County.

Leading by one, 33-32, going into the fourth quarter, the SCHS girls held Carroll County to just two points to win going away, 44-34.

Though SCHS's defense was stifling, the offense was off most of the night. Shelby County shot just 23.1 percent for the game. Haleigh LeCompte led the Rockets with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Hannah Stucker came off the bench to add 10 points and seven rebounds.
