Shelby County's first half performance gave them enough cushion to defeat Barren County 56-44 in Tuesday night's semifinal game of the Max Performance Lady Rocket Invitational.

Leading 13-9 into the second quarter, Shelby hit a scoring drought, as did Barren. Leeara Cardwell broke the four minute stalemate with a layup. After a Trojanette bucket, Shelby's Aaliyah Wells hit a baseline jump shot. She then grabbed her team's eighth steal of the game, forced by the Rocket press, and made a layup to put Shelby up 19-11.

The Lady Rockets led by as much as 15 points in the second half, and kept a Barren comeback at bay by making 10 of 12 free throws down the stretch.

Shelby County will face Rockcastle County in the championship game Wednesday at 7 p.m. Shelby lost 56-24 to Rockcastle earlier this month.
