Kentucky State Police reported that there were three deaths in Post 12 during the Labor Day weekend, but none of those deaths were in Shelby County. There were no deaths in those seven counties in 2008.

A double-fatality occurred in Woodford County and a single-fatality crash occurred in Anderson County. Ten fatalities occurred statewide during the official 2009 Labor Day holiday.

Troopers working the Post 12 area issued a total of 531 citations, 132 citations for speeding, 57 seat-belt citations and 2 child restraint citations and 236 other citations. There were 13 DUI arrest and 30 motorist assists.

Although troopers gave out more tickets for speeding last Labor Day weekend – 173 compared to 132 this year – total citations also are up from last year.

In 2008's holiday weekend, troopers issued a total of 460 citations.

In the Kentucky Traffic Enforcement Mobilization, which took place from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7, there were 14 felony arrests, 1 stolen vehicle recovered, and 27 fugitives apprehended. Post 12 conducted 25 traffic safety checkpoints.
