A missing person is, mercifully, a rare event in the community. Perhaps that explains the exemplary response of community organizations to the baffling disappearance of Maxine Ethington. She disappeared May 25 in her vehicle and has not been seen since.
It is heartening to see the community's law enforcement, churches and service organizations rally around the Ethington family as they continue the brave search for their mother.
What we hope, as the search enters its third week, is that the community, and especially ordinary citizens, does not stop looking. It is likely that someone somewhere has seen something that might help solve the case. It is possible that somewhere in this county clues to the disappearance may be found, though admittedly Ethington could have driven a long way off.
The family is looking for answers and it is not fair to them if we cease vigilance until the case is solved. Keep looking. Clues are out there somewhere.
