Once again, the Shelbyville Horse Show Jubilee and AT&T are sponsoring a youth art contest open to students in the region from kindergarten through grade 12.

Entries are already stacking up in the offices of the Shelby Development Corporation, but Executive Director Eilene Collins said there is room for more.

The show has two-dimensional categories for all grades and three-dimensional categories for middle and high school students. Participants may enter one item per category.

Entry forms are available at the Cardwell House, 316 Main Street. Forms must be fully completed and attached to the back of mounted or matted art work. The deadline to enter is July 13, and the work should be delivered from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, except from noon until 1 p.m., when the building is closed for lunch.

The artwork will be exhibited in the Ken Hudson Room of the Shelby County Public Library on July 23-31. A reception will be held on July 23 from 5-7 p.m. at the library. Prizes will be awarded.

For more information and contest rules, call the Shelby Development Corporation at 633-5029.

The Jubilee and Kerry Magan Consulting Engineers are sponsoring this year's Sidewalk Chalk Art competition on July 25 at 11 a.m. on the courthouse steps. Artists will be given chalk and the freedom to decorate downtown sidewalks with their creations. Best creations will win prizes.

Participants must register by July 10 by calling SDC or by contacting Collins at eilene.collins@shelbydevcorp.com.

In the event of rain, the event will be held in the library.
