A Shelbyville man arrested in April in connection with a sex crime against a child has been indicted on several more charges, court records say.
Joshua S. Nation, 30, of 471 Midland Blvd., has been lodged at the Shelby County Detention Center since he was arrested April 22 at his residence and charged with first-degree sodomy of a child under 12 years old, and he now faces charges of first-degree rape and incest.
The original police report stated that the 11-year-old victim told police that she had been sodomized orally on at least three occasions since April 1. Shelbyville Police Chief Danny Goodwin said at that time that more charges could follow pertaining to the same victim and declined to elaborate on the relationship between Nation and the child in order to protect the child’s identity.
The indictment, handed down by the Shelby Grand Jury on June 19, states that the rape and incest charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred in the third week of April, one on the day before his arrest.
All three offenses are Class A felonies, punishable by 20 years in prison. Nation is charged with one count of rape, 3 counts of sodomy and two counts of incest.
