The high school student injured in that fatal accident in Shelbyville on Dec. 1 may go home today.

Driver Ashley Ford was killed, and David Baker was hurt seriously when a pickup truck struck Ford's car just west of the fairgrounds.

Baker, who had to be airlifted to the University of Louisville Medical Center with unspecified injuries, said Tuesday he is doing much better.

"I have been feeling much better these last couple of days," he said from his hospital bed. "They tell me if everything goes OK, I might be able to go home tomorrow [today]."

Two other passengers in the car, Devon Peach and Jona Butler, were treated and released at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.

Mary Marshall, grandmother of Devon Peach, said he will be going back to school today.

"He is feeling much better, except he is still very emotional about it," she said.

Marshall added that she has not seen Jona Butler, but she has heard that she is also doing well.

Darrell Tipton, driver of the pickup truck, was not injured.
