The road signs are up and the speed limit is down near Simpsonville, where the widening project of Interstate 64 has gotten under way.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Friday that widening to three lanes in both direction to the Jefferson/Shelby County line would get under way this week. The new lanes will be constructed in the interstate’s median.
Andrea Clifford, public information officer for the Cabinet's District 5, said that only about a half-mile of the project will be in Jefferson County.
