Local president of the Shelbyville area NAACP branch, Janice Harris, was among the thousands who attended the March on Washington, D.C., 50 years after Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his historic “I Have a Dream” speech. She traveled with the Louisville Branch of the NAACP, which charted a bus out on Thursday evening and arrived on Friday. After a day of site-seeing, everyone dressed in their T-shirts and holding their march signs and geared up for the long day filled with inspirational speeches and the final walk from the Lincoln Memorial to the King Memorial. Harris is the third person from the left in the front row.
