VFW Halloween dance
The Frankfort VFW will host a Halloween dance party at 7:30 p.m.-midnight Oct. 26 at 104 East Second St. Costumes are optional but encouraged. Prizes will be given for the best costumes. The cost is $10. Call for table reservations for groups of six or more (seats 10). Half of proceeds go to the cancer fund. Fall festival
Fall Festival will be on 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at Elmburg Baptist Church with trunk-or-treat followed by a chili supper and men’s bake-off. The church is located at 11307 Elmburg Road.
JCTC Halloween bash
Jefferson Community and Technical College will have its annual Halloween Bash at 5-7 p.m. Oct. 26. All children are encouraged to dress up for this free event that includes trick-or-treating and games. For more information, contact pamela.larkin@kctcs.edu.
Trunk or Treat at First Christian
Trunk or Treat will be 5-7 p.m. Oct. 27 in the First Christian Church parking lot. In the event of rain, it will be in the auditorium. The church is located at 1000 Eminence Pike.
‘Howl-O-Ween Pawty’
The animal rescue coalition 5Rescues.org will sponsor a “Howl-O-Ween Pawty” costume and dance fundraiser at 7 p.m.-midnight Oct. 27 at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville. Must be 21 years of age, and costumes must be “tasteful.” Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased at www.5rescues.org or by calling JoCarol McGavic at 502-647-2160.
Fall festival at Burk’s Branch
The youth of Burk’s Branch Baptist Church will host a fall festival at the church on Oct. 28. It will include a chili supper, games and tentatively a hayride. Trunk or Treating will be held from 6:30-7 p.m. in the church yard. The event will be the first of several fundraisers for the youth as they plan a mission trip to Haiti next summer, July 20-27.
Trick or Trunk
The annual Trick or Trunk will be 4-6 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Centenary United Methodist Church parking lot. The children and their families get to Trick or Treat from trunk to trunk, enjoy hotdogs, games, and special activities. We will award a gift card to the winner of the best decorated trunk. Watch for sign-up sheets to provide a trunk for trick or trunk.
Chili and hotdog dinner
A community-wide, free chili and hotdog dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Christiansburg Baptist Church. All children will receive bags of treats. Costumes (no devil, gobblin, or witch costumes please) may be worn by the children. The church is located at 1037 Frys Oldburg Rd., Bagdad.
Finchville event
Food, prizes and lots of candy make for a fun-filled family evening 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at Finchville Baptist Church. A prize will be given for the best decorated trunk (voted by the children!) that illustrates the theme of “children’s movies.” For more information, contact the church at 502-834-7973.
Pumpkin party
The pumpkin party will be 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 on the front lawn at First Baptist Church, across from the Fairgrounds. Events include games, food, costumes, trunk or treat, fun, and so much more! Please, no scary costumes! Admission will be one bag of candy per family!
Fall festival at Highland
A fall festival will be from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Highland Baptist Church. There will be booth games and treat bags for children and cookies and punch for parents.
Trunk-or-Treat  at Holy Cross
Holy Cross Lutheran Church will host a Trunk-or-Treat at 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Events include a bounce house, free food, crafts, raffle, and treats. The church is located at 181 Old Seven Mile Pike. For more information,  call 647-3696.
Pigeon Fork festival
The trunk-or-treat festival will be at 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at Pigeon Fork Baptist. Wear your costumes; there will be games, candy, a cake walk, live music, free food and safe fun for the whole family. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The event will be at 5090 Hickory Ridge Road in Waddy.
Trunk-or-treat at Shelby Christian
Trunk-or-treat will be 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 in the main parking lot here on the hill at Shelby Christian Church. We invite all families to decorate their cars, fill them with candy and come celebrate a family fun night here at SCC. Trunk or Treat has become one of the biggest nights of the year around here. Lots of visitors come check us out. To help with TOT or to decorate your car and pop your trunk call the church office, 633-5975. This year’s theme is “Once Upon a Trunk or Treat.” Prizes will be awarded to best costumes and best themed trunks.
Heroes unmasked
Heroes Unmasked children’s Halloween Event will be 6 p.m. Oct. 31 at Simpsonville Baptist Church. Events include carnival games, candy and fun for all children through the fifth grade.
