No one was injured in a fire Wednesday afternoon that destroyed a greenhouse and numerous hay bales in Finchville.
Shelby County Fire Chief Bobby Cowherd said the fire occurred when Glen Lawson of 1080 Parent Lane was burning some brush and a tree stump on his property.
"He had left the fire unattended and when he looked outside, he noticed the fire had spread to a nearby greenhouse, involving plastic trays and plastic coverings," he said.
"The fire had also spread to some rolled hay bales."
Assistant Chief Terry Ingram reported that the fire destroyed 50 rolled hay bales.
Lawson used a tractor to move the burning hay to an open field.
Fire Crews remained on the scene for several hours until all the hay was removed to the open field.
