A graduate at last

-A A +A
By Sharon Warner

Mike McCarthy (in cap and gown) holds a “graduation” certificate presented by the Center for Educational Options at Henry County High School. With him are (from left) William Webb, principal; his father, Bill McCarthy; teacher Angela Morgan; his mother, Bobbie McCarthy; and teacher Richard Hardy. McCarthy, 59, was a student in the special education class at the old Shelbyville High School, where his teacher was the late Hazel Vaughan, and he went back to school recently as a resident of Park Place, a residential home under the operation of Cedar Lake Lodge.
