The third grade at Southside Elementary has been working on a social studies unit about how to be good citizens at home, school and in the community. As part of this unit, the “Holiday Helpers” collected items Dec. 3 through Dec. 7 for Open Door of Hope, the homeless men’s shelter. Rev. Lee Bean from Open Door of Hope joined students at their morning meeting to collect all of the items and to discuss how they demonstrated good citizenship by helping others.
