Some old stars and familiar names will be part of a unique musical event Sunday night.

The 15th Shelbyville Listen Room will be held at the clubhouse at the Shelbyville Country Club, starting at 7 p.m.

“This is No. 15,” veteran Shelbyville  musician Lewis Mathis said in an E-mail. “Used to do them at the community theater. Did the last one at the country club,  and this one will be there on Sunday night.

“In the past I have included art and poetry, even some story telling.”

This year, the event will bring back a couple of Shelbyville’s touring professional drummers, Darryl Craiger and Paul Woods, to perform.

They will be sitting in with Mathis’ band, as will bassist Brendan Lewis, but that’s hardly the entire show.

Brent Mathis will be performing original Americana songs, and Reggie Van Stockum will be performing with his band, too.

Former Shelby County basketball star Matt Simons will be performing with his Friends Indeed band, and the Wetsuit Crusaders are a group of high-school musicians, led by Casey Powell.

Also scheduled are Barbara Carter, Thomas Hood, and Mathis promises belly dancing with the Jingle Girls.

Tickets are $10.
