When Ashlee Bush, 21, of Finchville was born at the astonishingly tiny size of 1 pound and 9 ounces, her parents did not know if she would survive.
But thanks to the efforts of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Kosair Hospital, Ashlee today is a normal, beautiful young lady.
“We are so grateful to all of the doctors and nurses at Kosair,” said Lisa Bush, Ashlee’s mother. “They have given our family so much.”
Her story, and those of other children who have benefited by the work of Kosair Hospital, will be shared at the Tres Chic party, 7 p.m. Saturday at Claudia Sanders Dinner House.
Tres Chic is organized to fund a private room, named for Shelby County, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Kosair Hospital.
The event will feature live music, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres and a wine and bourbon tasting.
Beth Kovacs, who is spearheading efforts for the annual fundraiser, expressed her hopes for a good attendance at the Saturday event.
“There are so many Shelby County families who have needed the services that can only be found at Kosair Children’s Hospital,” she said.
Tickets, $100 per couple or $75 per person, are available at treschicshelbyville.org or by calling 321-2800.
The event is sponsored by August Investments, Citizens Union Bank and Walmart.
