The Simpsonville City Commission had the first of two readings on a new zoning ordinance to change properties on either side of U.S. 60 from residential and commercial to Village Center Form District.
This reading, passed Wednesday at the commission's meeting, was to accept the Triple S Planning and Zoning Commission's recommendations. The second reading, on Jan. 5, will commence with a vote. After acceptance and publication of the ordinance, the city will lift a building moratorium that had been in place for the most of the city's downtown core.
